AS YOU MAY KNOW, Tropical Storm Ana formed in the north central Pacific and took on a Hawaiian name. This tropical cyclone has been intensifying with sustained winds of 90 mph and higher gusts near 115 mph.
The Central Pacific Hurricane Center (CPHC) official forecast track has what will then be a hurricane, clipping the South Point area on the Big Island, then sweeping northwest just to the south of Maui County, before clipping the western tip of Oahu…and on towards Kauai at a weakening tropical storm.. This track can change each day between now and when it gets closer to us late Friday and early Saturday.
Given the current projection, or even one similar to it, parts of the islands will experience hurricane force winds, rough surf, and flooding rainfall.
Please begin thinking about what needs to be done to protect your unit.
PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO secure loose objects, such as lawn or lanai furniture, plants, and umbrellas among other things. We take this threat seriously for the safety of our owners and their guests. We will continue monitoring Ana’s progress as it approaches our island.
Security will be handing out instructions to your guests on preparations that need to be addressed before the weekend arrives. This information can be found on our website: www.aoaomauivista.org under EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS. If you self-manage your unit and no one is occupying it at this time, please contact your on-island representative and ensure he/she will move lanai furniture inside. Thank you in advance for your assistance by securing all lanai furniture by Friday noon.
