Tropical Storm Ana is still expected to become a Category I hurricane although the Central Pacific Hurricane Center and local meteorologists are now projecting the storm has moved more SW and will not likely hit the West sides of the Big Island, Maui, or Oahu directly as predicted. However, they are still predicting the island chain will feel the effects of Tropical Storm Ana in the form of potentially a 1 foot storm surge from the ocean, heavy rains and winds. They are asking everyone to stay out of the ocean during this time.
Staff at Maui Vista is still securing the property and preparing the rains and winds. Since the event is projected to hit Maui at 2:00am staff will be closing the pools down at 2pm today to stack furniture and secure them for the upcoming winds. We apologize for the inconvenience.
This information can be found on our website: www.aoaomauivista.org under EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS. If you self-manage your unit and no one is occupying it at this time, please contact your on-island representative and ensure he/she will move lanai furniture inside.
Thank you for your assistance.
