Annual Homeowners Meeting

Dear Owner of Maui Vista,
The COVID-19 virus has impacted many of our lives, and this includes the Annual Homeowners Meeting to be held at Tennis Court number 1, Maui Vista, on 7 November 2020. The meeting site has been selected in consideration of the expected group numbers and social distancing rules as designated by either the county or state of Hawaii at the time of the meeting. We are coordinating all our actions regarding this meeting with our Association attorney, as the situation is complicated.
By state statute we are legally required to have an annual meeting.
By our By-laws, this cannot be an all electronic meeting.
A quorum must be physically present either with attendance by an owner or the owner’s legal proxy for any action to be taken; otherwise this becomes an informational meeting and no voting can take place. A quorum is defined as 50% of the ownership determined by percentage of property ownership.
Efforts are currently underway to allow members to participate either by Zoom or a telephone connection. Details will be provided via an e-mail in October; this information will also be available in the protected “members only section” of our AOAO web site. At that time we will also request information as to how many owners anticipate being able to physically attend the meeting, and how many anticipate participation by electronic means.
Please note that attendance by electronic means does not count for quorum. For quorum either an owner or the holder of a homeowner proxy must be PHYSICALLY present at the designated meeting site (currently Tennis Court number 1, Maui Vista).
The documents for the Association meeting will be mailed to owners in mid September. These documents must be sent by postal mail or by hand delivering it to the apartment owner (By-Laws: Article II, Section 4). Please return those requiring signature as detailed in the documents.
